Roundup of August’s Pub News
- The Red Lion in Burbage (photos above) was refurbished in July with wooden flooring and new seating inside, and outside a revamped drinking and smoking area at the side of the pub. There is also now a choice of 4 hand pumps: Bass, Doom Bar and 2 guests. Everards Tiger may stay permanently.
- A licensing application was listed in the Hinckley Times for a new bar to be called ‘Angelos’ at 7 Edwards Centre, Regent Street (formerly Harry’s Place).
- The Woolly has reverted back to its original name of The Woolcomber and has been repainted outside.
- The Elephant and Castle, Thurlaston will be holding a Beer festival from 8 to 10 September. Open Thursday 8 noon to 3pm and 5pm till midnight, 9 and 10, noon to midnight. Food will be served at all sessions.
- The New Plough is having a Bank Holiday Guest Beer Festival from 25th to 31st August
Adam from The Railway has sent notice of some events they are running. First is a Collector Card for “Buy 8 Guest Beers and get the 9th free”. Saturday 10 September is a Last Night of the Proms meal followed by Opera singing. They are also holding a Beer Festival for Cask Ale Week from 22nd to 25th September, featuring 16 Beers (which are included in the Collector Card Promotion – Buy 8 Get 1 Free).
CAMRA Members are invited to a Preview Evening on Thursday 22nd September with a buffet & Steamin’ Billy hospitality. Last is a Charity ‘CONKERS CHAMPIONSHIP’ on 8 October in aid of The Matt Hampson Foundation.
