Feedback of Bewdley Thank You Trip on Sunday 13th September from BFO Jackie Wallis

The Heritage bus left Hinckley Bus Station just after at 10 am for the one and half hour drive to Bewdley.

The first stop was the Old Waggon and Horses, about a mile outside Bewdley. A 3-room pub with a good selection of beers including Bathams Best Bitter. Cobs and pork pies were available on the bar. Plenty of seating inside and in the terraced garden area.

After about hour, we continued to Bewdley town centre. Most of us walked the short distance to the Bewdley Brewery Tap. A good-sized tap room with brewery and railway memorabilia, a viewing window to the fermentation room and outside seating. 6 beers were available including the 6% William Mucklow's Dark Mild. For a donation cheese and biscuits were available at the bar. After that the group split up to visit the various town pubs.

Up a steep hill was the Black Boy. The oldest pub in the town with the part of the building dating back to 1462. A friendly community focused pub with mainly local beers. The Great Western was a short walk across the river. A railway themed pub with views of the Severn Valley Railway and 5 beers including Bewdley Brewery's 2857.

Along the banks of the River Severn was the Mug House, an old pub with hanging baskets and riverside seating and a choice of 5 beers including Wye Valley HPA, and Orilla, a modern spacious bar again with riverside seating. 2 beers including Golden Glow.

In the town centre was the Weavers, a micro pub which opened last November and sister pub to the ones in Kidderminster, Stourbridge and Worcester. 6 beers (3 local).

The George Hotel is a Wetherspoons in a former merchant's house. Very busy with people eating and reasonably priced beer. The only really busy pub we saw. Virtually next door was The Real Ale Tavern, a Black Country Ales pub in a former bank with cobs available and up to 12 beers. The Little Pack Horse Pie House sounded nice but was unfortunately not open that day.

There were quite a few other pubs in and around the town - more than could be visited in one day. We left Bewdley about 6.30 pm getting back to Hinckley for 8pm. It was a shame it rained on and off, but it was still a good day.
